I played (mostly) solo through the main campaign and clocked in about 27 hours. This is with doing some backtracking to get a good amount of the extra gear that I missed. In terms of replay value, I think that the game has plenty and when you add in multiplayer, even more.
Arguably the most important weapon mod in Remnant: From the Ashes. After only a few hours into the game, I’ve received more death blows than I can count. And whether you’re a solo player or in a group, you’ll definitely be using this one. The Undying mod is tethered to the Ruin rifle, which is obtained from the Undying King himself.

You can even join others peoples worlds to gather additional loot and bring it back to yours. It’s fun. One of my favorite games ever. It's doable solo, but definitely is designed for co-op first. Having played it a lot both solo and co-op, I don't get the sense that it's designed for co-op first at all.
1 Don't Wander Off On Your Own. Although it may seem pretty obvious, one of the biggest threats in this game is overconfidence. Wandering off from the party may seem like a good idea when you're blitzing through an area particularly quickly but things can often go wrong very fast.
